I have been passionate about making jewelry since 2002 when I started Metalsmithing and Jewelry Design classes at Appalachian State University while earning my Bachelors of Science in Art Education. Later during college, I was thrilled to attend Penland School of Crafts. It was after my college jewelry studies that the spark was ignited inside of me to grow as a metals artist.
My husband Derrick helped encourage me to create my business. We built my first studio together and he solders creations along side me to help me meet my demand. It is with his help and my family’s support that my jewelery dreams have come true.
My metalwork takes its inspiration from nature and pattern. As an indie artist, I enjoy creating simple, stylized and unique wearable jewelry and accessories. Presently, I’m exploring wearable art that incorporates other media BESIDES METAL, such as paper, prints, photographs, gemstones, beads, fabric, wood, felt, lace, found objects, enamel and resin.
I work with sterling silver, fine silver, brass, copper and gold alloys. All of my designs are created in my home studio. Each piece is built as a unique creation from concept to completed execution. My work consists of one-of-a-kind creations, custom pieces and a small series of limited edition works.
Artfully Yours,
Brooke Sides
